Wright Brothers Test Help

July 26, 2023

For More Information:

Cadet Senior Airmen,

Here are the best methods I've heard of so far to help you learn the material for the Wright Brothers test and do well on the test:

(1) Read Learn to Lead Chapters 1, 2, and 3, paying special attention to the summaries in each section.  The trickiest items for most cadets seem to be the theories (e.g. Great Man Theory, Trait Theory)

Also read these test-taking strategies: https://www.educationcorner.com/multiple-choice-tests.html

(2) Quizlets: Quiz yourself using quizlets.  Google "quizlet CAP Wright Brothers." Caution: These are not official CAP quizzes, so some answers may be incorrect.

(3) "Smalley's Guides":

Print the review and worksheets for Learn to Lead Chapters 1, 2, and 3.  Then fill out the answers, writing by hand. The connections formed in our brains are stronger when we hand-write out information.  Write the answer first without looking in the book, then turn to the referenced page.  Correct or add additional information to what you wrote. Draw pictures! Create mnemonics! The sillier your drawing or mnemonic, the better you'll remember it.

(4) Listen to the audio versions of Chapters 1, 2, and 3.  You can find them in the Cadet Library here: https://www.gocivilairpatrol.com/programs/cadets/library/l2l

If you right-click on the audio version and open it in a separate tab, you can download the file and/or listen to it on a higher speed.

Chapter 1 is about 45 minutes on 1x speed.  Chapters 2 & 3 are each about an hour(5) Watch and listen to the redberryweo YouTube videos.  Here's the link to her video on Learn to Lead Chapter 1.  Links to the other Learn to Lead chapters are in her comments under Chapter 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPFslHv7bOs

(5) Videos: Watch the redberryweo videos on YouTube that summarize Learn to Lead Chapters 1-3.  The video for Chapter 1 is here:   Links to the other chapters are included in the text with the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPFslHv7bOs

(6) Study groups: Get together with other cadets studying for the same test.  Share tips and tricks for studying with each other. Find out each other's strengths and weaknesses with the material and divide up the material to teach each other.  Quiz each other.

If you learn of other materials to help cadets prepare for these tests, please let me know.

Good luck!
